From £4,800 per category · Four weeks from kickoff, plus a 90-minute readout

Category merchandising review

A four-week reading of one category: assortment, grid order, listing copy, and how those choices sit against actual conversion.

Who this review is for

E-commerce merchandisers, buying leads, and trading managers in UK fashion, home, and general merchandise shops who already have an online catalogue and want a second pair of eyes on one category. If your range is a handful of SKUs, the listing presentation audit is usually a better fit.

What you receive

A bound PDF briefing (and a print set posted to your merchandising desk if you ask) covering one category only. Charts show listing visits, add-to-basket, orders, and conversion by week, device, and size or colourway where those fields exist in your export. Each chart sits under a caption that names the listing and the merchandising choice in question: grid order, first image, promotional badge, or delivery promise.

Included

  • A kickoff call of 45 minutes to agree the category boundary and the export format.
  • Two written drafts: a facts pack at week two, a recommendation pack at week four.
  • A 90-minute readout by video, or in Merrion if you prefer to travel.
  • One round of factual corrections after the readout.

Excluded

We do not rewrite listing copy as a copywriter, restyle photography, or sit in your weekly trading meeting unless you add the trading meeting pack. We do not connect to your shop as a live feed; we work from files you send.

Who writes it

Helen Crowe leads category reviews. James Pell prepares the conversion charts. Priya Nair joins when the question is really a forthcoming buy rather than the live grid.

How the four weeks run

  1. Week one: you send thirteen months of listing-level trading exports, the current assortment file, and URLs for the live category and a sample of listings.
  2. Week two: facts pack — charts without recommendations, so you can challenge missing lines or mis-tagged colourways.
  3. Week three: Helen walks the live grid against the charts and notes where presentation fights the numbers.
  4. Week four: recommendation pack and readout. You leave with a short list of merchandising moves, each tied to a listing or a tile position.

Preparation

Assign one merchandiser who can answer questions on promotions that ran during the year. Strip customer names and payment references from exports. A CSV or spreadsheet is enough; a slide deck is not required.

Constraints

We will not review marketplaces you do not control, nor paid-search accounts. Conversion is listing and category conversion, not brand awareness. If photography rights block us from reproducing images in the PDF, we describe the frame instead of pasting it.

Fee basis

From £4,800 for a category of up to 250 live listings. Larger grids are quoted after we see the SKU count. Travel to a shop floor in England or Wales is extra, at cost plus a day rate of £650.
